Medical Marijuana in the Workplace

We would like to invite you to a “joint offering” on medical marijuana and the workplace, by Fit For Work and McInnes Cooper. Sharon Horan and Denise Maher of Fit For Work will offer their insight about the current medical information, testing procedures, and medical/fitness challenges associated with medical marijuana in the workplace. Chris King of McInnes Cooper will provide a legal perspective to benefit employers in responding to the many considerations surrounding the use of medical marijuana by employees, including employee privacy, human rights/discrimination, and safety in the workplace. This informative, entertaining discussion is not to be missed!

Sharon Horan and Denise Maher
Sharon Horan is the President and Founder and Denise Maher is the Divisional Manger for Medical and Multidisciplinary Services at FIT For Work. FIT For Work is a full service occupational medical provider assisting corporate customers with everything from pre-employment medicals to employee wellness to disability management and return to work. Over the last number of years, the use of marijuana in the workplace has become an increasing concern to many of FIT For Work’s customers and in response to this staff at FFW have been staying abreast of all the latest issues as they pertain to Drug and Alcohol policies, Drug and Alcohol testing and workplace accommodation. They will be able to share local issues and situations they have encountered to help corporate customers understand how they can deal medically with the issue of drug use in their work environments.
