The Department of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population has begun the consultation on Phase 2 of the Temporary Foreign Worker Protection Act. The Phase 2 consultation focuses on the sections of the Act related to the Employer Registry and Administrative Penalties. The news release for the consultation can be found here.
The Employer Registry and Administrative Penalties are not yet in force. The legislative provisions related to the Employer Registry can be found here, under Part 3 – CERTIFICATES OF REGISTRATION FOR EMPLOYERS OF FOREIGN NATIONALS. Once the Employer Registry is brough into force, employers who are hiring foreign nationals will be required to register with the province. There are no fees planned for the Employer Registry.
